Wilson Revision
a revised version of the Wilson painting... here is a link to the older version that I posted a while ago Original Version ... it's funny, I seemed to get a pretty positive overall response to the original version, but alas, it had to be revised because the palette was slightly unsettling. It made the terrain feel more threatening in my opinion, which may have added an interesting element to this piece. But this revised version surely is a closer hit to my original color comp, something I had trouble with on the first go with this. Either way, I am pleased.

Small Figures, Big Poses
practicing small figures and action/dynamic poses. These are all taken out of my sketchbook.
this first one is a little stiff for my liking but still has a good weight to it...usually when a pose gets like this, I use it as an excuse to practice lighting and spotting blacks.
these next ones I was trying flying poses, i don't often draw flying type characters... for whatever reason, so I figured I should try it out. some of them got a little elongated.and here are some more fighting type poses. As you might be able to tell, these are all done very fast... I'm trying to be gestural without drawing from life... all of these figures are from my head without ref. I'll be posting up some drawings from my latest life drawing workshop soon to compare... I think I get more into contour when I don't have ref... which makes sense I guess.
